Agents of Change
At Great Gaddesden CE (VA) Primary School, we encourage our children to become agents of change. Developing pupils as leaders is a key part of our mission. Each year, the children can nominate themselves to represent their class on the 'Change Team'. Each term, the change team, guided by the whole school, identify a charity which they would like to support. Our mission statement "Treat others exactly as you would want to be treated youself" (Luke 6:31) inspires our children to ensure everyone in the world feels cared for and treated with love, kindness and compassion.
Autumn '21
When all the pupils returned to school in September '21, they were delighted with the new toilet facilities that had been installed during the summer holidays. They were very aware of how lucky we are to have such facilities and they considered other communities who are less fortunate than us. This led them to research charities that would benefit from our support, linked to this area of need.
This led us to the charity called 'Toilet Twinning'.

Autumn 23
A HUGE congratulations to all the children and their families for completing our Follow the Star fundraising challenge! The children celebrated their success and shared work they have been doing in school linked to this fundraiser. It was so lovely to hear some of the letters that children had written to children in Uganda, sharing information about life at Great Gaddesden School and asking questions about school life in Uganda. We reached Bethlehem and then a bit further. 3410 miles walked and a total of £1754 raised for charity.
Autumn '24
We decided that we would like some animals to join our school. We thought carefully about this and in line with our Christian ethods decided to rescue two guinea pigs. We felt it was important to support a local charity and help animals in need of a loving home.
The children named them 'Jet' and 'Jasper'. The children help to look after the guinea pigs and ensure they are treated with love and kindness.
